When “my flesh and my heart FAIL” – Psalms 73:26

  • by

“My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalms 73:26

Every person has at sometime walked in this very weighty, painful and desolate place the psalmist describes. “My flesh and my heart fail”, as if to say “I’m at the end of my rope, I don’t think I can take it anymore. My heart feels like it’s been so trampled by a herd of buffalo and surely they don’t stop. The strength of my physical body, my ability to keep doing your will, O God, and to stay your course, and to even get out of bed, is found wanting. Help, O my God!!!”

The Pain is Real.

For those who believe in Christ, trust in Him, and love Him and His people, this pain of the psalmist is exponentially worse when it comes from within the Body of Christ or within the expected comfort of your family, your wife, husband, son, daughter, or even your mother or father. It plain hurts, and strength seems to drain out of us at an unprecedented rate.

What is happening?

The walls have been breached and we must recognize the enemy’s attempt – through whomever he can – to KILL our faith, STEAL our joy, and DESTROY our hope. This is Satan’s work on this earth, to tempt all of us who have submitted ourselves to the Lord to say “surely in vain I have ‘served the Lord'” v13 paraphrased.

No, even though the wicked prosper on this earth, we have treasure in Heaven that no man knows of and that will not fail. Keep this in mind.

Should we then be the superficial “always smiling Christian”? No, there is a time to weep, mourn, and howl. But let it not end there. The hurts and grief are a reality that mustn’t be dismissed. The psalmist was truly concerned about the wickedness around him, but he also prescribed a wonderful remedy:

“When I thought how to understand this, it was too painful for me – UNTIL I went into the sanctuary of God… But it is good for me to draw near to God; ” (v16-17, 28)

That’s IT! That’s the KEY. James understood this in also writing “draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

And when the Lord of Glory draws near to you, wounds are healed, failing eyes receive Beulah balm, prison doors burst open, and the awesome, mouth-stopping revelation of Christ on all matters brings about a TRUE PEACE and spirit of reconciliation toward others that is above all the wicked plans of the principalities and powers.

The Anointing the Brings Healing

As this fragrant OIL of anointing is poured into the depths of your heart, mind, and soul, the laws of Christ and His Kingdom – illuminated through the Holy Spirit of the Living God – RENEW our strength, purify our hearts, and give us a clear understanding of His heart toward our (and His) enemies, which is this: to LOVE your enemies, PRAY FOR those who wound you and others, DO GOOD to them.

And who knows, they might actually REPENT and receive the same MERCY you and I have received.

“Woe to the inhabitants of the earth”, to those who are not setting there affections and heart on things ABOVE, upon Christ and HIS Kingdom. Don’t be deceived, beloved. Let us be those who inhabit the Kingdom of Heaven!

Blessed are those who are found keeping His commandments, faithfully waiting for His redemption and His holy vengeance upon all who offend. In the meantime, His is to wait for the return, the change of heart and thinking of all His enemies on this earth that they, knowing God, would have ETERNAL LIFE!

Much love in Christ,

Brother Jeff
